My Name’s Ash
My art journey began in middle school but flourished in High School. My love for art soon blossomed into a passion. I view art as a form of dance. A movement that illustrates the flow of colors and design intermingling to create a connection.
Art is meant to transcend language and allow individuals to explore and connect with one another on a level that pushes past the spoken word. My art style is rooted in exploring and expressing the beautiful individuality of our world through the blend of color and movement.
Art is expressed differently for everyone, and getting the chance to see your creative vision is exciting. I cannot create custom art pieces without you, so let's collaborate and bring your vision to life.
My Artistic Process
The Blueprint
As soon as I receive a message about a new custom design, the creative gears in my head start turning. Before I even start thinking of putting paint to leather, I start with a digital blueprint for the design called a mock-up. If your custom piece were a building, the mock-up would be the architectural designs. I use Procreate to create my mock-ups. Just as much time, thought, and soul go into this blueprint as the actual painting itself.
The mock-ups are where the trial-and-error part of the creative process really comes into play. I change elements, colors, and layouts over and over until I know it embodies the vision you gave me.
This video gives you an idea of the mock-up process.
Each design I do is completely unique to you, and that means custom colors. I use Angelus Leather Paint for all of my designs and I custom mix the colors to make sure it matches your vision exactly. Building your personalized color palette is a testament of our thoughts and ideas mixing together to build your perfect vision and color scheme.
When mixing my colors and preparing the paint the process is different depending on the material I’ll be working on. The adhesive that I add that helps the pigment adhere to the material to make sure your design stays put.
This video is an example of how I prepare a paint palette for a custom project.
Preparing the Palette
When I put paint on the brush, that means I get to bring your design to the physical world. This is what it’s all about for me. When I put paint on the brush, that means I get to bring your vision to life. The way I paint changes slightly depending on the material. My art style adapts when it needs to. Based on your design, whether it be intricately detailed or wildly colorful, it goes from your words to my thoughts, to a digital creation, and finally to physical wearable art.
No matter what the design is, or the colors I use, or the item I’m customizing I love the opportunity to translate your vision into reality.
